Refresh – use your button. What is that? Its importance hit me when I was trying to stay up to date on a sports event. I wanted to catch it on my computer. But unless I’d hit the refresh button, the scores weren’t updating. As the action peaked, I refreshed more frequently.
When you hit the refresh button, your browser takes a new look at all the material it presents on your computer display. It verifies the validity of the information and the links to be sure that everything is active, accurate, and up to date.
The display in your mind gets stale and outdated, too. Your view of the world is largely habit, and you are probably looking at an old picture. You need to push your own refresh button, especially on important things that are changing rapidly in your life: Look at the key aspects of your life with ‘new eyes.’ Get a new impression by refreshing your perspective:
- Take an fresh perspective and look at your house, your desk, your car, your emotions, your interactions. What do you see?
- Revert to an unbiased opinion where you usually have strong feelings. Refresh your judgment. Give everyone the benefit of the doubt
- Check for changes of information, assumptions, environment, or conditions.
- Test the ‘links’ of your relationships. Are they still functioning? Are they reciprocal? Or have you been assuming they are still valid?
Keeping your perspective renewed will help you succeed in times of change and turbulence. Pushing your refresh button gives you the updates you need to make informed decisions on the fly.
