Nurturing – five ways to self- nurture. Why not try self-nurturing? It is important in childhood development because it boosts a child’s performance and improves his/her self-image. Parents with nurturing skills see to a healthy diet, suitable clothes, and a secure life for their children. They provide support and encouragement as their child develops, challenge her/him, and provide discipline. Most important, they make sure their child is educated and prepared for life.
Bosses may use some of their nurturing skills to enhance the development of their employees, too. They supply support and encouragement while the employee is learning and growing. So they challenge, and correct, as needed. They make sure their people are educated and prepared for the job – now and into the future.
To nurture means to promote development. Although some people think of the skill as something to be reserved for use on children or others, nurturing is a valuable skill to use on yourself. You can always use a boost in performance and self-esteem, plus you deserve to be nurtured, too.
No matter where you are your path to success, self-nurturing will make your journey more enjoyable. Here’s how to nurture yourself:
- Be supportive and encouraging when talking to yourself
- Celebrate your successes
- Supervise your own diet and lifestyle choices
- Challenge yourself sometimes, when you are slacking
- Make sure your necessary skills are up-to-date
Just because you’re all grown up doesn’t mean you can’t still benefit from the warm comfort of being nurtured.
